What we do – Activities and Events
Activities
“15 Minutes of Fame” demonstrations: At each monthly guild meeting one member demonstrates a clay project or technique. Past demonstrations have included making molds, clay carving, using rubber stamps and colored inks, making an elephant ornament.
Exchanges and swaps:
There is an annual exchange of holiday ornaments at the December meeting. Additional swaps have included flower canes, black and white beads, and miniature masks.
Clay Plays: Clay Play is a monthly get-together of all PCGMN members and any members of the public who want to come! We spend up to 4 hours playing with our clay, sometimes more on weekends. Bring your clay and any tools, ideas, or techniques that you feel like and enjoy the convivial atmosphere of creativity among your fellow artists!
Our Clay Play events are alternating between sites in Minneapolis and St. Paul and between weeknights and weekends. Check the main page of the web site or the Guild Calendar on the guild’s Yahoo site for upcoming dates and locations as they are confirmed!
Events
Exhibits. Members have the chance to display their works in a number of locations in the Twin Cities area. One frequent exhibit space is the Textile Center itself. Past exhibits have included ornaments, and clocks and other time-themed pieces. We have also had pieces displayed in the Textile Center’s display booth at the State Fair. The guild regularly exhibits in many community spaces, such as the North Regional Library in Hennepin County.
Demonstrations for the public. We annually demonstrate working with clay at the State Fair Creative Activities Building. We also demonstrate at other locations as time permits and by member interest and availability.
Sales Opportunities. Members participate in art events such as “Art-A’Whirl” and exhibits, such as at the Bloomington Art Center, that provide opportunities not only to show but also to sell their work.
Service work. The guild regularly participates in the Bottles of Hope effort by creating polymer clay covered bottles for cancer patients.
Current & Upcoming events:
We currently have pieces on display at Hennepin County’s North Regional Library and update the display periodically with new pieces to coordinate with the library themes.
Events:
